Obesity and the lungs - Dr Igor Lemech

Description

In this seminar, Dr Igor Lemech addresses respiratory changes in obese patients, effective ventilation techniques and the management of Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA).


Learning Outcomes

  1. Understand the physiological respiratory changes associated with obesity, including reduced lung volumes and altered respiratory mechanics
  2. Develop strategies for ventilating the obese patient, including how to measure lung dynamics and providing 'safe ventilation'
  3. Appreciate the unique challenges faced by obese patients suffering from obstructive sleep apnea and recognise the clinical effects on perioperative care.
