Part 2 - Footwear Modification to off-load plantar foot ulcers and prevent re-occurrence

In this training video, the Amanda Taylor (Podiatrist) discuses the role that footwear can have in managing and preventing recurrence of plantar foot ulcers.


Learning Outcomes

  1. Describe the importance of using footwear in reducing pressure on plantar weight bearing areas to help manage plantar foot ulcers and prevent their recurrence
  2. Explain the features of a good fitting shoe and how to check it is an appropriate fit for the patient
  3. List basic modifications that can be made to the sole of a shoe to provide more specific off-loading to a particular area of the foot.
